white breasted nuthatch by Laur720 white breasted nuthatch by Laur720
my nutty  I love their eyes how they can flit back and forth feeder to grab a seed or suet and then retreat to eat it then come back. they are sneaky as they come to grab something then fly for shelter as they eat. they are so agile and pose along the way. keeping an eye as they approach...

Nice capture of this bird!  I think it's a male because it has a dark head and females have gray.  They are very hard to get a good photo of because they flit back and forth so fast so it's amazing that you got one of him! Great job :)

Thank you, I didn't know about the heads. I love my nuthatches they often flock to the suet we put out.

You're welcome :) They do love suet, they aren't frequent visitors to my bird feeders but they visit the suet quite often.

Ours are pretty regular and so are our downey woodpeckers, the downies are like addicted to suet lol.

Haha yes they are, we also get Hairy woodpeckers here, they kind of look like the downy's, both male and female, but are larger

you are lucky :) I haven't gotten them. I know they are similar though. For a short while I had a red bellied woodpecker but I haven't seen him lately.

I've never seen a red bellied woodpecker around where I live, so you're lucky too! ;)  I'm sure he/she will be back, woodpeckers are kind of strange birds.  The white breasted nuthatch that I've been taking photos of never used to come around before this winter and now it's here all the time.  It showed up in November then I didn't see it again for about a month, now it's a regular visitor.

No no, me and my sister were arguing about a nuthatch that was at our feeder and sheets saying that his head was his butt and I said his butt was his head, (you know because they perch upside down)
So my dad went outside and he walked back in and he said: let's call him butt-head!
Lol so that's how he got his name... Lol!!
